 |
Backband: A straight barrette or band that fastens to the back of the head, with the veil attached; similar to a backpiece. |
|

 |
Backpiece: A barrette or comb that fastens to the back of the head to which a veil is attached. The backpiece may be embellished with flowers, beads or bows. |

 |
Bunkeeper: A circular band or piece of fabric that encircles a bun or upswept hairstyle. The bunkeeper may be embellished with flowers, beads or jewels. A veil may be attached. |

 |
Comb: A decorated hairpiece that is secured to the hair by means of comb teeth. A veil may be attached. Most effectively worn with a bun or updo hairstyle. |

Crown: A formal headpiece that is mounted on a circular frame and is adorned with stones, gems or beads. A crown is worn on top of the head. May be worn with or without a veil. |

Full Circular Wreath: A full circle of silk or real flowers or foliage that rests on the crown of the head. Appropriate for less formal or garden weddings. May or may not be worn with a veil. |

Half Crown: A half circle of jewels, usually set in metal, worn atop the head. Usually greater in height than a tiara. |

Half Wreath: A band or half-circle of silk, real flowers or foliage that is secured to the top of the head. Appropriate for less formal or garden weddings. May or may not be worn with a veil. |

Headband: A half circle band of uniform width that may be worn on top of the head or across the forehead. Can be trimmed or decorated. |

Juliet Cap: A small, round cap which fits snugly on top of the head, made of open weave fabric and usually decorated with pearls or semi-precious stones. The modern version of a Juliet Cap may be a wide band that secures to the crown of the head. |

Snood: Knitted or openwork net which encases the hair at the back of the head. A snood can also be attached to a hat. Used to confine long hair. |

Tapered Headband: A half circle band characterized by a wider middle and thinner or tapered ends that may be worn on top of the head or across the forehead. Can be trimmed or decorated to taste. |

 |
Tiara: A jeweled or beaded semi-circle worn on top of the head. Appropriate for formal weddings. |
